Through my research I have been able to identify that the target demographic for my new magazine 'Braces and Faces' is made up of approximately 70% males to 30% females averaging between 18 years old and 55 years old. They will be fans of musical genres including; reggae, ska, rocksteady, Mod, garage and rhythm and blues. They spend the majority of their disposable income on new clothing, vinyl, gigs and their scooters. These people generally, but not exclusively, belong to the social grades of D, C1 and C2 and most of them are working class. The nationalities of the audience will differ, including mostly British people, but also people from other European countries such as Italy, France, Germany and Spain.
Typical Audience Member Profile
Lee ‘Lynval’ Sutherland is twenty years old and lives in Mosborough, Sheffield. He’s currently completing his automotive apprenticeship in vehicle body repairs. When he’s not grafting, Lynval indulges in the odd pint at his local with his skinhead buddies. His prize possessions are his scuffed up cherry red Doc Martens that have seen a lot of love over the years. He first got into 2 Tone and reggae when he was eleven after his big brother bought a record player and some classic ska vinyls. He loves ska, reggae and occasionally Mod and garage - his favourite bands are The Specials, Bad Manners, The Selecter and The Who. Lynval has a NRS social grade of C2, as he is currently learning his trade and is therefore a skilled manual worker. He’s paying board to his parents as he’s still living in their house but Lynval is hoping to save up enough money to move out and pay for his own accommodation after his apprenticeship course.
